Kisah Jenderal TNI Pas Naik Haji Dipanggil Pulang Karena DKI Genting

Umat Islam memasuki Muslim Haji. Kloter demi kloter jemaah dari Indonesia telah tiba di Madinah.

Ada kisah menarik soal tentara yang naik haji. Karena ibukota genting, terpaksa pulang lebih cepat saat naik haji.

Kisah ini disampaikan Mayjen Purn Eddie M Nalapraya. Saat itu tahun 1980, Eddie berpangkat Brigjen dan menjabat sebagai Kepala Staf Garnisun Ibu Kota Jakarta.

Eddie sedang menuaikan ibadah haji di tanah suci. Tiba-tiba dia dikontak Konjen RI di Jeddah. Isinya perintah dari Panglima Komando Pemulihan Keamanan dan Ketertiban (Kopkamtib) Laksamana Sudomo agar Eddie segera pulang.

Demikian dikisahkan dalam buku Memoar Eddie M Nalapraya, Jenderal Tanpa Angkatan yang ditulis Ramadhan KH dan kawan-kawan. Buku ini diterbitkan Zigzag Creative tahun 2010.

Sebagai prajurit Eddie harus menuruti perintah. Dia segera berkemas dan kembali ke tanah air. Untung rangkaian ibadah haji sudah hampir selesai. Selama di pesawat Eddie berpikir apa yang terjadi di Tanah Air sehingga harus segera pulang ke Indonesia.

Maklum saat itu arus informasi belum seperti sekarang. Dulu masih mengandalkan radio, TV atau surat kabar dan selama Haji, Eddie sama sekali tak memantau berita dari tanah air.

Setelah pesawat mendarat di Halim Perdanakusuma, Eddie langsung menghadap Laksamana Sudomo. Dia langsung ditugasi merangkap jabatan Kepala Staf Kodam Jaya. Pertama kali terjadi jabatan Kepala Staf Garnisun dan Kepala Staf Kodam dirangkap.

Apa penyebabnya? Ternyata kondisi keamanan DKI sedang panas. Saat itu terjadi bentrok antara tentara dan mahasiswa. 19 Mahasiswa terluka, suasana ibu kota tegang.

Eddie dikenal sebagai tentara yang mengedepankan persuasif dan mampu merangkul semua kalangan. Walau jago bertempur, dia mampu bertindak humanis hingga menyelesaikan konflik tanpa kekerasan. Tenaganya dibutuhkan untuk mengatasi suasana tersebut.

Eddie turun ke lapangan. Dengan gayanya yang khas, masalah bisa selesai.

"Gunakan cara kekeluargaan, masalah ini bisa selesai tanpa dendam di kedua belah pihak," kata Eddie.

Beres satu, ada lagi masalah lain. Kala itu Pilot Garuda Indonesia mogok menuntut kesejahteraan. Lalu Lintas penerbangan pun lumpuh.

Eddie sempat didatangi Dirut Garuda. Dia meminta Eddie tangkap saja semua pilot yang mogok. Namun Eddie menolaknya, dia tak mau menggunakan cara-cara seperti itu.

Eddie datang ke Kemayoran tempat para pilot mogok. Saat itu Jakarta belum memiliki Soekarno-Hatta Airport di Cengkareng. Kemayoran di Jakarta Pusat adalah bandara utama.

Dia ajak para pilot berdialog dari hati ke hati. Tercapai kesepakatan hingga akhirnya secara sukarela para pilot mengakhiri aksi mogok itu.

Keesokan paginya Letjen Benny Moerdani mengecek langsung suasana Bandara Kemayoran. Dia puas melihat kegiatan penerbangan sudah berjalan seperti normal.

Sabil jalan ke mobilnya, Benny Moerdani berkata pada Eddie. "Ed, nanti kau jadi Panglima ya," kata Benny.

Rupanya prestasi Eddie langsung diapresiasi oleh atasannya itu. Dia direncanakan mendapat promosi untuk menjadi Panglima Kodam Iskandar Muda di Aceh.

Sebagai prajurit Eddie hanya menjawab "Siap, Pak!"

Namun uniknya justru karena prestasinya itu akhirnya Eddie tak menjadi Pangdam Iskandar Muda. Saat itu Panglima TNI Jenderal M Jusuf menilai kehadiran Eddie masih sangat dibutuhkan di Jakarta. Eddie pun batal bertolak ke Aceh.

Eddie kemudian diangkat menjadi Asisten Teritorial Panglima dan sempat menjadi Wakil Gubernur DKI Jakarta tahun 1984-1987. Sosoknya dikenal dekat dengan warga dan para ulama. [ian]

The on-road price of the car is inclusive of the insurance premium for your car insurance policy. The problems arise when the policy expires after a year. Car insurance plans are usually issued for one year after which they should be renewed. If you do not renew it, you are driving a car without car insurance. If numbers are any indication, a study by New India Assurance revealed that about 70% of vehicles on Indian roads are without insurance. Is your car one among them? If yes, beware. Here are 5 consequences if you drive your car without having a valid Car Insurance policy: Be prepared to pay heavy fines Earlier, the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 governed the road safety and traffic rules. Recently, the Government passed the Road Transport and Safety Bill 2014 to replace the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Among other changes, the Bill penalizes you heavily if you are caught driving without having a valid insurance cover. As per the amendments, you would have to part with a whopping Rs.25, 000 for a light motor vehicles or Rs.75, 000 for other motor vehicles as a fine for driving without insurance. A huge fine, isn’t it? Pay losses for damages caused to third party or property In an accident, if you unintentionally harm any person or surrounding property, you are liable to pay the loss incurred. This is called third party liability. Your car insurance mandatorily covers this third party liability and spares you the loss incurred. Pay losses for own damage While you have to compulsorily pay losses caused to a third party, what about your losses. In an accident even your vehicle suffers damage. The costs of repairs for such damage are borne by your comprehensive car insurance policy. Without insurance, the onus of paying for the repairs is on you. With the high cost associated with the repairs of your car, a financial strain is inevitable. You would be penalized, get a challan and might even be imprisoned. Loss of No Claim Bonus If your car insurance expires and you do not renew it, besides the penalties and fines, you also lose the No Claim Bonus which you accumulated in your existing policy. Car insurance plans allow a discount in subsequent year’s premiums if there is no claim in any current year. This discount increases every year and saves your premium outgo. If you let your car insurance policy lapse, you lose the accumulated NCB and end up paying a higher premium when the policy is consequently renewed. A car insurance policy is legally mandatory and not having one results in serious consequences (as mentioned above). While a third party liability cover is mandatory, a comprehensive policy is better. The former pays only for the damages caused to any third party but the latter also covers damages incurred by you and your car. The premium for a comprehensive policy is slightly higher because of higher coverage. For instance, the premium payable for a Maruti Ritz car registered in 2012 having a capacity of 1197cc would have a third party premium of Rs.2237 and a comprehensive premium of Rs.4200 (approximately). With a slight increase in the premium you can avail a higher coverage option which covers for your damages too. Since car repairs are expensive, a comprehensive policy makes more sense even if the premiums are a little high.
